The first 501(c)(3) non-profit, USA Swimming Club based in Hampton, Virginia, HVA Current launched in 2023. The coaching staff and board of directors believe in meeting each swimmer where they are – and helping them achieve their personal best, whether they are multi-sport athletes or full-time swimmers.

Team Mission: Our mission is to provide the Hampton Roads area swim community safe, healthy, and positive opportunities to support and develop the characteristics, mental toughness, and physical skills necessary to excel in and out of the pool.

Team Philosophy: We believe an integrated team is a cohesive team – that swimmers of every ability can teach and learn from one another under the guidance and mentorship of coaches who encourage, support, and provide appropriate challenges and promote the normalization of excellence.

​The HVA Current seeks to provide the best possible coaches who support our mission and our philosophy. Our coaches are dedicated to continuing their education about technical instruction, motivational practices, and childhood development. To further this commitment, our team invests in its coaches’ continued education through both USA Swimming and American Swimming Coaches Association classes, special clinics and trainings. Our coaching team strives to work as one unit to support and help one another become the very best – so we can offer our swimmers the very best in return. Our lead coaches are committed to following the American Development Model for developing swimmers.
